Mark Hoffman

Chairman and CEO

Mark Hoffman is Chairman and CEO of Eightfold Logic. Hoffman is responsible for building the corporate infrastructure, oversees day-to-day operations and sets the overall strategic direction for the company.

Hoffman is a highly recognized entrepreneur. Hoffman founded database technology giant, Sybase, and served as Chairman, CEO and President. He also he served as Chairman, CEO and President of Commerce One, the company widely considered to have established the software standards for electronic commerce.

During his tenure at Sybase, he helped grow the business over a span of 11 years to $1 billion in revenues. Accomplishments at Sybase included the development of the relational database for high-performance networked applications in the client/server environment. Prior to his appointment as Chairman and CEO of Eightfold Logic, Hoffman was also, CEO and President of Everdream, Inc., a pure Software as a Service (SaaS) desktop management provider, which was acquired by Dell.

Hoffman is an active leader of the technology industry. He currently serves on the Board of Directors at Connectbeam. Hoffman holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Arizona.


Richard Zwicky

Founder and President

Richard Zwicky is Founder and President of Eightfold Logic. He drives the company's suite of products that are designed to offer search marketers the best set of solutions to address their customer acquisition needs.

Widely regarded as a leader and visionary in the search marketing industry, he experienced first-hand the challenges of a Search Marketer in his prior role as Founder and CEO of the award-winning search marketing agency, Metamend. While at Metamend, the firm was recognized throughout the industry for its geolocation and phraseology technology, along with its context sensitive search technologies. He used his experiences and knowledge of market requirements to develop Eightfold Logic's suite of SaaS products.

Prior to entering into the IT space, he built a successful retail chain, and successfully created one of the Internet's first pure drop-ship eTail operations.

A graduate of McGill University, Zwicky is a sought after speaker and regularly shares his expertise on all aspects of search marketing and analytics through speaking engagements at industry conferences and events worldwide.


Rand Schulman

Chief Marketing Officer

Rand helped create an industry - inventing brand name online marketing and new media products from benchmark vendors; WebSideStory, Keylime Software, WebTrends, and InsideView. In 2005 he was named one of the Top 100 BtoB marketing executives by BtoB Magazine. He is regularly quoted in the WSJ, Investor's Business Daily and Business Week and in numerous marketing & media publications, including AdWeek, and Advertising Age. He is a founder and past board member of the Web Analytics Association. He founded and was CEO of Keylime Software, acquired by Yahoo in 2000 and was a senior executive at WebTrends and Unica. Rand was also the CMO of both WebSideStory (IPO) and InsideView, and is a founder and principal of Schulman+Thorogood Group, a business strategy consulting practice advising new media companies.

Currently Rand sits on the Board and advises - Web Analytic Consulting Company, Technology Leaders; Mobile Analytics Company Motally; and Social Media Analytics Firm ViralHeat. Rand has been an executive officer on two IPO teams (TriTeal in 96 and WebSideStory in 2005), and has seen two of his firms acquired (Island Graphics and Keylime Software). Rand holds a BA in English and Journalism from the University of the Pacific.


Mark McGourty

Chief Financial Officer

Mark McGourty joined Eightfold Logic, in May 2009 as Chief Financial Officer. In his capacity as CFO, Mark oversees all of the company's financial operations.

Mark has over 25 years of experience as a financial executive. Mark is a results-driven financial executive with extensive startup experience. He specializes in operations, infrastructure and capital markets.

Mark previously held the COO and CFO position at The Sports Retail Networks Inc., where he directed the day to day operations of the company. Prior to The Sports Retail Networks, Inc, he held a variety of financial positions at BayHill Partners LLC, Atherton Capital Incorporated, Brokers Acceptance Corporation, First California Mortgage Company and The Associates. Mark began his career as a Senior Auditor at Ernst & Young. He received his B.S. degree in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley.


Peter Wells

Senior Vice President of Sales & Service

As head of Eightfold Logic's sales strategy, Wells comes with nearly two decades of sales and marketing analytics management leadership working with some of the country's fastest-growing enterprise technology companies - including multiple IPOs. Prior to joining Eightfold Logic, Wells served as senior vice president of sales at TouchCommerce, where he was responsible for enterprise sales strategies. As VP of sales at WebSideStory (now part of Adobe's Omniture), Wells led the North American sales team through the company's initial public offering, and was key in driving the widespread understanding that web analytics is crucial to online business optimization. Prior to WebSideStory he held senior sales management roles at NetManage, AltiGen Communications. He holds a BS in Business Management from Sonoma State University.


Alexander Balva

Vice President of Engineering

Alexander Balva offers 20 years of software design, development, and management experience, with the past 10 years dedicated to products in SaaS/Could Computing delivery model. In the position of VP of Engineering, Alexander is in charge of development and operation of Eightfold Logic's suite of products.

Before joining Eightfold Logic, Alexander served as VP of Engineering at Everdream Inc. where he managed all product delivery aspects of company's restart. As a core part of a 2-year initiative he rebuilt the product line while maintaining the existing customer base, which led to acquisition by Dell. Prior to Everdream, Mr. Balva served as VP of Product Development for Airframe Business Software, a provider of hosted SaaS applications for the SMB market.

Before joining Airframe, Alexander served as Chief Software Architect at Exigen Group, where he worked on utility computing platform - early steps of cloud computing - and, later, leveraged this technology as he led the delivery of a large automation and cost reduction solution for Electronic Data Systems (EDS). Prior to that, Mr. Balva established and led the business applications unit for Genesys Telecommunication Labs. Genesys went public in 1997 and was later acquired by Alcatel.

Alexander holds a number of U.S. patents in the area of web based applications and frameworks. He received a M.S. of Computer Science degree from Kiev Technical University.


Greg Caws

Vice President of Technology Operations

Greg Caws is Vice President of Technology Operations at Eightfold Logic. He is responsible for managing the product development and technology operations teams.

Prior to Eightfold Logic, Caws led the team that designed the telecommunications and information technology infrastructure for Vancouver's successful 2010 Olympic bid. He also spearheaded complex system integration projects, including television over IP, for TELUS, a major Canadian telecommunications company.

A former avionic engineer officer with the Canadian Air Force, Caws entered into the private sector as Co-Founder of Cinax Designs, an MPEG software development company, purchased by a NASDAQ-listed corporation in 2000.

Caws served as an advisor and board member to a number of high-tech companies and technological associations. He holds an MBA in Technology Management from City University, and a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from the Royal Military College of Canada.
